Elevate your team’s finishing prowess with the Passing Combinations & Finishing from Center Drill! This versatile drill, suitable for players aged 12 and above, offers two variations of passing combinations in both sides of the field(left and right side) to refine passing combinations and finishing techniques in central areas.

Drill Set-Up:

  • Equipment: Footballs, marker cones (6), and goalkeepers.
  • Players: Adaptable for 8 players or a full team (drilling both sides).
  • Playing Area: Half of a full-size football pitch.
  • Duration: 20 minutes.

Drill Breakdown:

This drill focuses on attacking combinations that culminate in central finishing opportunities, practiced from both the left and right sides of the pitch.

Variation #1 :

Variation #1 of passing combination and finishing
  • Player Positions: Set up 3 cones in a triangular formation. Position 3 players near the cones. A goalkeeper stands in the goal.
  • Passing Sequence: Player 1 (outside cone) initiates the drill by passing the ball to Player 2 (central cone), he pass back to Player 1, Player 1 passes (one-touch) to Player 3 (far cone) and Player 3 pass back to Player 2 and going forward to get the ball from Player 2 and try to score in 1v1 situation with goalkeeper.
  • Movement and Finishing: Player 3 receives the pass and attacks the central area. Depending on the situation, Player 3 can choose to:
    • Shoot from Distance: If the opportunity arises, Player 3 can take a shot on goal from outside the penalty area.
    • Dribble and Finish: Player 3 can dribble closer to the goalkeeper and attempt to beat them with a skillful move before finishing.
  • Rotation: After the attempt on goal, players rotate positions clockwise, with Player 3 becoming Player 1, Player 2 becoming Player 3, and Player 1 moving to the central cone.

Variation #2 :

Variation #1 of passing combination and finishing
  • Passing Sequence: Player 1 (outside cone) initiates the drill by passing the ball to Player 2 (central cone). Player 2 controls the ball and passes to Player 3 (far cone). Player 3 pass back to Player 1 and start to attack slowly forward. Player 1 pass to player 2 and player 2 finish his pass to player 3 to conclude finishing action
